there are only a few good movies out right now, but most of the percentage that Hollywood made are of the following:
-Remakes
-Asian adaptations
-Novel based
-Sequels
-Theatrical adaptations
-<insert something like epic,disaster,scary, blah blah> Movie (this type suck out everything good and leave you with poor script, lame humor, and bad acting)
and a small percentage would be original ideas, which there is a small chance that it would even be goodWww@Enter-QA@Com

I propose an online "idea well": where writers with partial movie scripts/ideas can drop them in the "well"!.
Later on, someone with more creativity can come along and fish the idea out of the well and really make it come alive!.

I think they are lacking imagination!. People are still entertained by movies like Gone with the Wind, Mary Poppins, Seven Year Itch!.!.!.I think it starts with the writing!. We don't have tv shows in the same category as I Love Lucy or Carol Burnett either!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Yes main stream Hollywood is making way too many sequels !. But you should checkout all the independent films out there now !. They seem to have more original movie ideas in my opinion!.
