Question: Should a good horror film have a moral, or base message, or is gruesome death enough!?
is 'torture porn' a legitimate genre of film!? Or is it just the typical slasher film!? I have heard Saw described as such!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

no torture porn is not legitimate THAT IS WHY THE SAW MOVIES ARENT GOOD HORROR MOVIES, though clever tortures!. i am sorry for the caps but it must be done!. there must be a little gore or imaginary gore (like backstage killings) suspense is good, and then a third and essential part to a good horror movie is a story!. I cut some slack on classic horror but now the monster chasing a girl the whole movie won't cut it!. There must be something that makes you think or make there be an overall point to the story!. As for having a moral, i dont believe that it is necessary in a horror film to have one!. How can there be a moral when there is a big monster killing everyone!? "Don't trip over the smallest twigs when running away" or "Don't go investigate when you here a strange noise" or stated simply "Don't kill people!. It's mean!." I'm not against a moral in a horror movie but i dont see how it could be done well, and if it is it might be classified as a scary drama, not a horror movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Good Horror has to have a good concept base, and be well written!. I've never seen a "good" horror film without those two things!. The Acting, directing, and moral's are irrelevant, for the most part!. Sure they don't hurt anything, but as long as the premise and script are sound, The movie will be good!.

I think for a horror movie to be really good it has to have some believable parts, like the strangers had a good horror theme but didn't play it out well enough!. The scariest thing to me is something I think really could happen to me!. It also needs to have a lot of gore in it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Horror films are supposed to scare the living daylights out of you!. If you can still pick up a lesson while being scared "shitless" then I have to admire you!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
