Come to think of it, I'm not sure it was explained in the movie!. In the book it's based on, it's explained by the Princess of Guilder coming to visit in hopes of marrying him -- and an accident happened that revealed that she was bald as an egg and had been hiding it under a profusion of hats and wigs!. Evidently Humperdink was very offended by this and sent her packing, then plotted revenge for being misled!. Not to mention simply that he's such a lovely fellow and likely had other motivations, like enjoying the war!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They never really say, they hint that he just needs some thing to do!. That he is bored!. also it is a manly thing to do!. drink beer, watch football and start wars,Www@Enter-QA@Com

Humperdink, Humperdink, Humperdink, because he has issues!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He hates Guilder, wants to take them over!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
