What does it mean if a song is in a certain key?!

Question:

What does it mean if a song is in a certain key?

Hello.

I'm a beginner guitar player who just plays around on it with out understanding concepts in music and i was wondering if someone could explain what it means when a song is in a certain key? (like this song is in the key of C)

Answers: Generally it means that you will be playing that particular chord (like C) at the start and end of the song. Also, when you strum that chord the song will start from one of the notes of the cord. If the song is in a major key then the song usually ends in the root note (see below).

Most of the basic chords are formed by playing three notes, like in a major chord it would be the first note (also known as the root, say C), third note (E) and fifth note (G). The root note of a chord gives it its name. In the example I've provided it is the C major chord.

It is difficult to figure out A,B,C.....notes in a guitar than in a piano. One usually starts by learning the different chords in a guitar. Source(s):
http://www.folkblues.com/theory/chord_bu... that means that this song goes in C major key (its always good to know which key u r playing in if u wanna play solo so u play it on the right scales)....C key is based on C with pitches CDEFGA and its parallel with A minor. mail me if u have more quiestion
