thanks for the feedback. check out the hard lessons from detroit. currently not on any mainstream label. they aren't some mainstream band that claims to be indie.

see and be scene and bamboo are my 2 most favorite songs The Arcade Fire Dahne Loves Derby and The Matches<3 The Shins REM House Of Heroes Bright eyes definatly but mostly not his new album i liked the older stuff better like bowl of oranges is just an amazing song... PAVEMENT.
They definitely pioneered indie through the 90s and I love their sound. For current indie bands, it is Wolf Parade and Beirut. But I also love Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
its really hard to pick one. My current fav is Archietect in Helesinki yo la tengo, clap your hands say yeah. although the feelies were a really influential indie band back in the 80s. I dont know if these bands are technically "Indie" but this is some of what i've been listing to: Damien Rice(I know, not a band but still good), Frou Frou, Head Automatica, Silversun Pickups, Arcade Fire, the kooks, the pigeon detectives, phoenix, ima robot, iron and wine.
Some may not be indie but still are not mainstream.
