Question for people In a band?
Have you ever had a record label try and con you out of money. We had one try but we made sure to read the fine print and it was pretty much a scam. It really got on my nerves and wasted my time, and I'm still kinda sour about it even though it was like a month ago. Additional Details

We've already done that, we have a makeshift studio in my basement, i just need a few more pieces to make it worth of making cd's. But were going into an actual studio where this guy is letting us record an ep for free. But recording a cd isn't everything a label does for you

Get in touch with someone who knows what they are doing a record your own.
You can have CD's produced fairly cheaply at place like this one:

The only thing the record company MIGHT be able to offer is radio play, promotions, and placement in stores. If you hustle your own promotions, or get a decent management company you can get quite a lot done yourself. that good you read it they think that people wont read it
