A lot of people like him because he preaches the new gospel, which states that being irresponsible is a good idea, and deciding to be a pimp or a ho is the same as deciding to be an accountant or a dentist. He is popular because there are more stupid people than smart people.
I'm not a fan but his music is lyrically very deep added with some of the most unique beats I have heard in a while and I am always searching for unique music.
He can be a bit monotnous though and that bores me. Suck this, kill that Ni@#$ that etc etc, get's old.

Im not much of a 50cent fan, i used to be because he used to be somewhat origonal. Now its just the same album over and over with different beats.
As to why people like him? He's produced by Dr. Dre, a rap industry Giant. Dre makes some of the greatest beats ever. 50's lyrics are interesting, but do tend to become hum-drum. Ayo Technology is basically the same song as candy shop.

LMAO..This is the fakest rapper to ever grace a stage..ppl forget the truth about 50cent because his image has been so intact for so long..ppl believed the gangsta tales from a man that was scared and a snitch...they were beating this man up in studios..this man at best was a nickel and dimer...its amazing what getting shot (for being a snitch) and good marketing can do...

Im not really a 50 Cent fan but many people like his music because he's live it all. His lyrics are crazy and unique. His music videos are just different I guess. He was shot 9 times and is still alive I think that's what some people like about 50, you can say as many bad things as you want about him, you can hurt him but he won't be brought down.
