What kind of electric guitar should i buy as a begginer?!

Question: I have played many instruments in the past including drums, trumpet, a little trombone, and some acoustic guitar. I wouldn't really want to spend more then 250-300 for the amp and guitar, although below 200$ (american) would be preffered. I have pretty much decided/been told that stratocasters are the best guitars for begginers. I was hoping someone would know a good website where i could get good deals, like newegg.com for guitars :P. Some reccomendations i have heard are a brand called squire which are cheaper fenders, and some other REALLY cheap kind called silver line or somthing like that. The silver______ are like 150 for guitar and amp so im not sure if that would be too cheap.
Thanks for helping

Stratocasters have always been known to be great for a beginner. It's up to you though.. I don't recammend going crazy and spending alot of money, because you don't have to.. I think to start you out, you should get a really good and cheap Dean guitar. They are a nice brand and you can get a great guitar for as low as $100. If you are looking for an amp, I recammend to you a 15 watt Crate amp. These amps are pretty cheap and are cool because they come with a distortion button and sound really good... They are the real deal for beginners, no "First Act"s. It is in your price range and you can get some amazing wholesale deals from

Get a Schecter their killer. Great action and playabiltiy. Also really crunchy tones. C-1

just make sure your hand can slide around the neck

the flying V

I agree that a Fender Squire Stratocaster is a decent beginner's guitar. I wouldn't buy one online though, since it's important to try out each individual guitar to see if it feels good to you. It's best to find an experienced guitar player to go to the music store with you to find a good one. Some beginner guitars are so hard on your fingers that you'll get discouraged and not want to play.

Squire tend to be good guitars in general, as are Epiphone(the cheaper version of Gibson stuff). If you can stick with either of these two brands, you'll be ok. Just make sure the neck's ok if you're buying second hand

My first electric guitar was a Squire Strat. Very nice.

Fender Squier thats what i started with and its cheap

If you are just beginning, don't spend a lot of money. You can go to Target and get a Lyon guitar or Wal-Mart to get a first Act guitar. These are cheap and are actually pretty good.
I have 6 different guitars and my son has a First Act. It sounds and plays just like my old fender and you won't be out a lot of money right away. In fact, I use my son's guitar on stage from time to time also and people couldn't tell the difference.
