I don't know of any connection with any book. As far as I know, it all came straight out of Peter Gabriel's head.

no idea. I do have the album and th remastered CD, listen to it all the time, but I have never heard of a book related to it. It was kind of an original idea of Peter Gabriel.

I'm pretty sure most of it came from a nutty dream Peter Gabriel had. Its not like he was loosely inspired by some Indian text in the manner that Yes was with "Tales from Topographic Oceans."
