How do I get the dents out of my saxophone?!


Question: I play the Baritone Saxophone for my school's band and I want to know if there is any way to get the dents out of my sax. The dents are in the body area under the bell.

I agree with everyone. There are special tools that are made to not damage the inside (damage would allow moisture to collect in the damaged spot and eat away at the saxophone itself, ruining the instrument). Just go and take it in. Most techs don't charge a whole lot for dent removal. Also, if it is a school instrument, don't spend a penny for it. It isn't your instrument to worry about, it is the school's job to fix it.
Most dents have no affect on the sound of the instrument any way. Unless they are REALLY big (as in closing off a large majority of the inside space, the air just moves around the small bump on the inside, and it does nothing to the sound.

Go to a music store near you and get a repair.

That takes some very specialized tools and a lot of knowledge... take it to a music store and get it fixed... if you try to do it yourself you will just make it worse.
