Are the band 30 seconds to mars emos?!
Question: They are Alternative Rock/Emo. If you go to buy their album at stores they are always located under the Emo section. 30STM, MCR, FOB, and P!ATD are all Emo bands. Emo isn't a bad thing, Emo is a type of music, I wish people would understand that. Emo has nothing to do with being emotional or cutting yourself, or whatever most people think it is. Repeat--- Emo is ONLY a type of music genre. It just happens to be that most being who cry a lot and people who cut themselves like the Emo genre, that's how the 'other' defintion was started. According to most people it means "Someone who cuts themselve, or hurts themselves intentionally, someone who cries a lot and is dark and evil." It isn't anything like that, I swear. And some people thinks its a trend, because 'emo' people dress punk, mostly some neon color and black, as this is true, emo is still a music genre. So here we have concluded that there are two different definitions for emo. Look 'emo' up in the dictionary.
And yes, me and my friends are Emo. Most of the people at my school are Emo, and none of us are cutters. Everyone loves My Chemical Romance (which is very Emo) but they wear Hollister and A&F. You just have to know the difference, and be Emo, before you realize the true definition, or the one preps made up to classify, yet another group of kids that like rock. Although I did call myself Emo repeatly, I wasn't meaning it is the wrong way, my definition being, someone who loves the Emo genre, can classify themselves as Emo.
And for the other 'scholars', Emo is the sub-genre of Hardcore Punk/Punk. Emo stands for Emotional Hardcore, which is a music genre. Now that the history lesson is over, I think that 30 Seconds To Mars is the greatest band to walk to Earth!

Of course not! They might be Heavy Metal but their certainly not EMO!
I'm not going to say they're stereotypically labeled as emo.
But their music isn't emo. It's alternative rock.
