Should I Quit Piano?!

Question: I'm playing piano, and I'm doing it for my own enjoyment. My old piano teacher moved and she got me to level2 in Royal Conservatory(RCM). She was really nice and helped me but didnt put pressure on me. So when she moved i went to Long and McQuade for lessons. My teacher puts tons of pressure and for Christmas holidays gave me 2 hours of practise of 4 songs that i've never played before and 6 scales i dont the notes for. My old teacher never gave me 2 hours of practise. She let me improve at my own rate. I really hate piano now and i dread having to play. I used to love it. Should I quit and play a different instrument?

yeah, if you enjoy piano don't quit, just see if you can find another you like and one that doesn't pressure you. My band director once told us that if you have a good student and a good teacher, you will work together great and accomplish anything. Soooo, if you have a teacher you don't like, you won't learn as much. It really is true if you think about it. You could always keep playing piano with a new teacher you like and could also learn another instrument at the same time if you wished. Don't let one person discourage you or make you hate something. She/he must be a negative person. Avoid people like this. Don't let a teacher you don't like control how you feel about music. Eiether get a new one, or you are probably advanced enough to teach yourself is there is no other resource. My band director that I really liked just resigned (left her job) because she had twins and will not be coming back. Most of the people in band cried, because we all love her so much. We have gotten a new teacher we do not like near as much as her. We continue to play our instruments and work hard no matter whom teaches us. Just think "what would your old piano teacher want you to do?" Do what will make your old piano teacher proud.....only you can make the decsion

I wouldn't quit if you love playing it. Why don't you just try another teacher?

If you no longer enjoy it, don't do it..

quit the instruction. go back to piano when you feel like it.

and never let anyone ruin your love, like this instructor did .....

just quit your teacher....i don't like how your old teacher put NO pressure on you and how your new teacher put TOO much pressure on you

when you go to practice, keep the stuff you have to do in the back of your mind, but keep the enjoyment in the front. I had the same issue with the violin, but when i started focusing on enjoying the instrument, the work just kinda came along with it

i think u should ask ur mom to switch teachers or if she won't quit.

if ur mom makes u do piano just try andif u can't do it plead ur mom to quit.(make a bargain)

dont quit if ya love it , if your tired of it then dont play as much an play stuff thats new an exciting , an pick up the drums or guitar something new . Good luck

God bless
