What would be a good amount harder than the Hoffmeister Concerto in D Major, for!
Question: The Hoffmeister Concerto in D Major (just the first movement) for viola. What else would be in that level range/a level above that?
Thank you!

Here's a list of things that might be around the level that you're looking for:
Accolay: Concerto No. 1 in D Minor
Bach: Cello Suites
Bach: 3 Sonatas for Viola da Gamba
Ben-Haim: Three Songs without Words
J.C. Bach/Casadesus: Concerto in Cm
Beethoven: Two Romances
Dittersdorf: Andantino in A
Faure: Elegy, Op. 44
Faure: Apres un Reve
Glinka: Sonatina in Dm
Handel/Casadesus: Concerto in Bm
Hummel: Fantasy
Schmitt: Concerto in C
Schubert: Sonatina in Gm, Op. 137, No. 3
Schumann: Adagio and Allegro
Stamitz, Karl: Sonata in Bb
Telemann: Fantasias
Vanhal: Concerto in C, Movt. 3
Zelter: Concerto in Eb
Some are a little higher, some much more. I'm not sure of exactly what kind of pieces you're looking for, but I hope this helps!

Teleman and Stamitz are around the same level of difficulty. Maybe Vieuxtemps. Bartók: Roumanian Folk Dances for Viola and Piano, would probably be a good choice.

I just polished the J.C. Bach/Casadesus Viola Concerto in c minor. The first two movements are a little harder than the Telemann, but the third movement is CRAZY. I recommend this, it is really a lot of fun to play, very exciting too. I know Sharmusic.com carries it, and it is in suzuki books 6 and 7. Another one is the Handel/Casadesus. It's about the same as the above mentioned, not as interesting, in my opinion though. It's aslo in suzuki book 7
