Should I buy a guitar from the internet? If so, which one?!
Question: I don't know if this is the place to ask, but I'll ask anyway.
I'm playing a Fender Squier Strat right now, and my guitar teacher says that I will eventually need to buy a better guitar. Now, for my question:
I live in Isreal, and it's hard to find a good guitar (me being left-handed doesn't help either). So should I order from the internet? Do you think that a guitar has a chance to survive the trip all the way from the US?
Now, another thing, my teacher recommened a Fender Strat, but I'm not sure it would be the perfect choice for me. I like Rock, Metal, etc. what guitar do you think I should get?
Please answer, it's REALLY important!
P.S. If this is not the right place to ask, please tell me. I'm kinda new here :)

I would steer clear of sites like e-bay and other similar sites, simply because I wouldn't trust buying a used guitar over the internet; if it is damaged, you are less likely to be able to get a refund, and your risk of it being damaged is higher when you purchase this way. If you have to purchase on the internet, I would suggest purchasing one new from a reputable site that sells them. Fender has its own website at fender.com, so I would start there, since you're considering buying a Fender (great guitars). That way, if anything is wrong with it, you have a better chance of a refund, or at least getting it replaced. If it is packaged properly, it should be fine during shipping, and I would imagine the people at Fender would package their products properly.
I would have to agree with "squishy." I would steer clear of sites like ebay. Mainly because of the shipping aspect. I would trust a large company to do international shipping more than just a person selling a guitar.
I bought an Epiphone Riviera on ebay, and had no problems at all. Beautiful guitar but not the right sound for your tastes. = )
I would try www.musiciansfriend.com. They have great prices on everything!
If you make sure to do research on the product, check reviews from other buyers, and buy it from a reputable company you should be O.K. But research is the key to good online purchases.
