Old school hip hop is great and has that golden year, feel good positive message but is not as lyrically clever as some modern day hip hop. So if you like both old school and modern hip hop, I suggest you check out artists like Common, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, and Little Brother. They have a mixture of feel good, positive lyrics and also have ill rhymes. Talib and Pharoahe also have a couple of hardcore hip hop tracks. They pretty much do everything.
