Answers: I TOTALLY agree about Sabbath

KISS

They never got the credit they deserved.

I keep reading how badly Rolling Stone treated Led Zepp in the 70s...heh.

Definitely KISS.

Ramones.
Anything punk as well. "New Wave" is what they called it. They hated it so bad. Critics thinking this "new wave" was destroying our youth.

Too bad it got famous. ?

Any band that started or revolutionized a genre was usually criticised for being different.

Peter Frampton's studio albums were getting nowhere. The studio single of "Show Me The Way" barely charted. Then, suddenly, the Frampton live show exploded. "Frampton Comes Alive" had "Show Me The Way", "I'm In You", and the voice box anthem "Do You Feel Like We Do".

Cheap Trick is also a band that was not critically acclaimed in America but hit live first. Ironically, they were a sensation in Japan years before they got it going on home soil. "Live In Budokan" is exciting partly just for the wild Japanese crowd noise as Robin Zander and company lay it down on the classics "I Want You To Want Me", "Surrender", and "Ain't That A Shame".

Queen is definitely one of those groups. Their first album got some praise, but everything after that was called pompous and overblown, Queen II was called "rock and roll suicide." Even during the height of their popularity, the late '70s through mid '80s, they were still ripped to shreds by the critics.

I think a ton of the bands from the '60s and '70s were trashed, but later on were considered some of the greatest groups ever.

LED ZEPPLIN ~ Now everyone's on the bandwagon and hoping they go on tour... its all hype

I've always had a spot for Sabbath and my Ozz man of course... ha ha ha

AC/DC in the beginning critics weren't their biggest fans

Motorhead , the N.M.E. called them the worst band in the history of music.
