Anyone know if Al Dimeoloa is still recording and if so whats he got new ?!
Question: Al is still very much performing - he just finished his american tour in November, and this month hes in Italy - he'll finish up in Russia and Europe in April and May.
He's also still recording - Consequence of Chaos came out at the end of November, and features Steve Gadd on drums, Chick Corea, John Pattitucci, Barry Miles and his group - kind of a return to his older sound. He also put out
"Diabolic Inventions and Seduction for Solo Guitar, Vol. 1 Music of Astor Piazzolla." Its accoustic and very good - but its only like 40 minutes long.
Apparently he put out an album last year called
"Maria (Egi szerelem)" with Miklos Malek and Eszter Hoglos.
He also put out a DVD - "Return to Electric Guitar" last year. He also did an album a few years ago called Vocal Rendezvous which features a number of different singers.
On his website he talks about a Return to Forever tour later this year (summer) - the fusion group with Corea that he became famous playing with.
Al is one of the all time greats - not everything he did was great, but when he is on he can definitely play the crap out of that axe.
