What songs do you think that nobody should ever attempt to sing except the origi!

Question: It really bugs me when I hear people try to poorly imitate a classic song by the original artists. This is one of the major reasons why I don't like American Idol or watch the show.

In my opinion no one should ever attempt to imitate:

"Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland.

"House of Love" by Amy Grant and Vince Gill.

"Nobody Does It Better-The Spy Who Loved Me" by Carly Simon.

and anything by Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.

I just don't think that the average singer has the ability to successfully sing these songs. I don't even think that most professionals can song these songs and maintain the original style of the artists without making the song sound dreadful.

Which songs do you think no one should ever attempt to imitate for fun, karaoke, or seriously?

Mariah Carey-Vision Of Love

more than a feeling by boston -- if you can sing that high, call a doctor

Anything by Celine Dion or Whitney Houston.

sunset driver . .. . .michael jackson

no one should try and imitate Justin Timberlake becuse i have heard some really bad versions of his songs...and also Bon Jovi, they're too good to be immitated.

Won't get fooled again The Who

Yeah... I agree with you on Michael Jackson. I guess nobody should cover a song of an artist that has a unique voice.

For karaoke... I think unless they're really good at it... nobody should rap. :/ Very weird sounding at times.

I agree with some of what you are saying. Whittney Houston is another. "Some where over the rainbow" was sung by a little girl (it shows it on you tube) that sent chills up my spine. With American Idol I'm glad they do sing other artists songs, because it gives Americans something to compare them to. They are not going to be as good as the original singer, but we have an idea of what they should sound like (kinda).

Madonna- I actually can't recall off the top of my head anyone doing a cover of a Madge song, though I may be forgetting at my ol' age, lol. I just don't think she can be covered...not convincingly anyway.

Paul Simon....it couldn't be done well... not at all in this day and age.....the last to come close to a good cover was the Lemonhead's cover of the S&G classic 'Mrs. Robinson'

Journey songs.....Steve Perry's voice can't be imitated and their songs are all his, no other voice could come close to doing them justice.

Anything by Michael Jackson!

??We Love You Michael!!!!??
