Don't Nirvana's Teen Spirit and Linkin Park's Crawling song sound al!

Question: I know both bands are from totally different genre's but I think both songs have the same tone and feel about them.

Answers: I know both bands are from totally different genre's but I think both songs have the same tone and feel about them.

I'm a tone nut - they have vastly different tones.

LP's clean vocals are cleaner than Kurt's, and their "screamy" vocals are slightly higher pitched than Kurt's as well.

I can't comment on the bass tones, but the guitars are hugely different. Kurt was basically playing a POS (piece of ...) guitar through a POS amp and had it cranked, while LP recorded with nicer equipment, detuned guitars, and much higher "overhead" within the gain structure of the amp itself. Kurt used a Mesa Boogie Studio .22, LP used Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers. If you know guitar amps, that's a huge gain difference. LP used a lot more studio trickery than Kurt did.

Drums - there's not even a comparison. LP = compressed and EQ'd and studio produced, Nirvana = creative mic'ing technique and Dave Grohl beating the crap out of the drum set. Apparently he actually beat them so hard they had to replace drum heads multiple times. No comparison.

LP throws in digital/techno stuff, and has hip hop influence. Nirvana was all analog and had *punk* influence.

Even lyrically the two are miles apart. Take away the music and Crawling in the Dark fails to stand as a piece of poetry.

Nirvana was art, and their impact will be remembered among the greats. Linkin Park is a "trend", and will be remembered as such. Especially with this pseudo-christian approach to music they're taking now. blech.

Saul

Not really, no.

Nirvana is better :)

I'm thinking and I'm sorry, I can't hear a similiarity at all.

Can't hear a similarity. Vocals are different. Guitar work is different. Drumming is different. Rhythm is different overall. Crawlin is made up entirely of power chords. Don't see it.

Sorry man no way.

Nope, and this is your second comparising failure...try again, sorry man.

i dont think so

Haven't noticed...

no not at all
they are 2 completely different songs
