I think it all goes back to the whole "wanting to fit in" situation that teens go through. I know this because I was that same way when I first got into hip-hop, I listened to what everyone else is listening to.

To me, I also think it's the whole thing with the industry trying to dumb down everything, which is why the standards of hip-hop today have been lowered a lot. I think some people don't have the free will to think for themselves because they've grown up with people telling them what to like, and the industry telling the consumers what is "cool" in hip-hop

People want instant gratification instead of taking the time to look, which is why so many people draw into the mainstream immediately.

We seem to be at the point where there are more followers than leaders in today's society. Here's a line taken from one of my earlier written rhymes that I feel relates to this situation...

"It's easy to follow others, but it's easier to follow yourself"

People are sheep searching for identity, that's why. They think their music is their identity, and it defines them as a person, hence, if you diss their music, you diss them, vicariously

i notice people like to get all crappy when you listen to different music then they do and then its like they think they really are the music itself when they are just simply posing and following everyone else.

i.e. people do hate when you listen to something they never heard, hate which can go to extremes at times...

because they want to fit in instead of speaking how they feel...man, I hate followers!!!!

Goooooood question.

Some of these little dudes werent even around when Big and Pac were alive, they were listening to Lil Bow Wow at their 5th birthday part and they claim Big and Pac were the best ever. You wasnt there to feel the impact they had!!!!

I can respect another person's opinion about who is the greatest, but mine will stay the same and I dont care.

J.E.E.Z.Y is the best to ever do it. That is my mind, and opinions are like booty holes.

some do. you seem to.
