Classic Rock is a term that was invented in the 80s to refer to music in the 70s - now it appears anything from at least a decade prior - is consider "Classic."
Classical Rock - refers to bands that used Classical & Romantic motifs, from Orchestral music, as a Primary influence in their own music.
You will notice that The Beatles used this in their middle-8s - to throw-in a classical keyboard part or the Bach trumpet used in "Penny Lane" - but they were NOT a Classical Rock band, because this was NOT their "Primary" use of this music.
Bands like The Nice (60s), ELP, Yes, & Genesis were originally known as Art or Flash Rock, because of their primary use of Classical motifs - but in fact - their goal was to take Classical & Rock music and update it to a NEW type of style, with unusual time-signatures and odd-syncopations.
This all came under the Super-Set of "Progressive Rock" - but Classical Rock is an acceptable sub-genre term, of this.
"Fusion" would have been a more accurate term, since these bands used Mulitiple influences (Classical, Jazz, Folk) - but the "Fusion" was to be used for the later Jazz-Fusion bands, to come, that sprung out of Progressive Jazzists like Miles Davis - His guitarist, John McLaughlin, went on to form Mahavishnu Orchestra and there were other bands of this genre, like Return To Forever. Still - even Jazz Fusion is a sub-genre of Progressive Music.

yeah, i dont know if this is what you are looking for, and i dont have any examples, but classic rock is like legendary made a stamp in history kind of music, and classical rock is classified as a genre of music.
