What is the name of that practicing software....?!
Question: K, someone told me that there is this certain ?software?/CD musicians can use to practice with. it sort of serves as a series of rhythm/accompaniment tracks featuring well-known musicians/ensembles, that you can jam with and stuff... sorry if the description is REALLY vague but that's all I can remember.

Jamey Aebersold has been producing play-along recordings for many years. There is a huge library of CDs available for pretty much every instrument, recorded by professional musicians.

I think you are referring to Band-in-a-Box program: http://www.pgmusic.com/
It has accompanying tracks that could help you in playing.
It's called Band in a Box:

You'll love this software and you'll never look back at Aebersold cds again. Just type in the chords, choose a style and tempo and push the play button...
I buy all my music books and practice CD's at Music Plus.
They have a wide variety of solo instrument with playalong CD accompaniment. It also includes the written music.
Great for beginners or intermediate.
