buy an epiphone, it's made buy gibson, you can get that an a amp for acouple of hundred.

and, it takes awhile to get good. ive been playing about a year, and i would say im so-so. i learned my self. and i just have a hard to playing solo's and etc.. but once you learn basic stuff, the rest is pretty easy. good luck

I don't really play guitar but my dad does and he tried to teach me a few times. It's not that hard, just a lot of note memorizing. You need patience and determination, like when you're learning to play any instrument. Just be warned that your fingers hurt a lot. Btw, my dad plays acustic but most of my friends play electric.

It's not as hard as it seems if you have time to practice. I just started playing. I'm learning with a downloadable course called Jamorama. It's really great, I'm progressing pretty quickly. One thing is for sure if you don't try you will never know.

Dont buy a cheapo one, the sound quality wont be very good, even if u are. If it sounds crap it will put u off playing. And yea id recomend epiphone aswell. I've been playing for 2 years, self tought. It all depends on whether or not u actually enjoy doing it, if u enjoy doing it, u will keep playing regardless of how hard it is or stressful. Eventually u will see it more as a fun past time rather than a boring, practice sesion

No, it's not hard. Time consuming maybe, but not hard.

There's not really any kind of certain guitar that's ideal for beginners, but like the dude above me said, generally best to avoid cheap ones (the one exception to that seems to be the ones at rondomusic.net or .com or whatever it is). I wouldn't follow brands, though, because every company puts out lemon models. There's tons of user reviews of guitars here: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/revie...
What I do when looking for a new guitar or amp is browse musiciansfriend.com or head to the music store and look for models I like. Then I check out the reviews on the above site, looking for common problems.
