What are some bands that were destroyed by their fans?!

MCR. I never thought so poorly of them until I heard their fans.
FOB is kinda in there as well. They are godawful. and their fans eat that Pete Wentz up because he's eye candy
Mettalica lost a ton of fans when Lars Ulrich , the drummer, complained about people downloading their music illegaly like heneeds more money. plus they suck live but not totaly destroyed.

Just for the sake of answering. Quite a number of years ago, Jefferson Starship had two 18-wheelers of musical equipment stolen from their road tour. All their instruments! That one set 'em back a bit!
mcr fob and jonas brothers... jonas brother fans harass you by emailing you when you post an answer when you say you don't like jonas brothers.
fob cause all their fans talk about is how cute pete looks and don't make any references to their music. i bet you that if pete didn't have those nude pics of himself that "leaked" onto the internet, they wouldn't be as famous. i bet that stupid ordeal was just a publicity stunt put together by the record company...sell outs
and mcr, there are some pretty insane mcr fans, not all are, just most... for example, i've seen some mcr fan post a question, mcr vs metal? and she wrote how metal sucks and stuff and how mcr is more talented than all metal bands put together...i'm not a metal fan, but that was pretty imature. and she puts "MCRmy attack!" after all of her questions...its like she worships mcr...go ahead and like a band, but don't worship them...jeez
Fall Out Boy, I can't remember the last time I heard one of their crazy indie-loving fangirls talk about the music and not Pete Wentz's looks.

Peter Frampton - reason being, although he was/is a pretty good guitar player and singer, he wasn't/isn't up to the "Superstar" status that the remarkable sales of "Frampton Comes Alive" brought.
In my opinion tricking the fans was the reason he was RAISED to "Superstar" status (erroneously). He was brought down because he shouldn't have been there.
The reason he was erroneously raised to "Superstar" status is because of a mis-understanding about what he was doing. The fans thought he was making his guitar "speak" (something Hendrix could do to a small degree - no one else I know of). The reason is because he was using a "gimmick" that had seldom, if ever, been used before (or since) called a "voice box". It sends the sound from the guitar to your mouth with a tube and then you form words with your mouth, lips, and tongue as normal. You can hear the fans literally GASP in amazement when he starts this out. This developed into a world-wide GASP that he couldn't stand up to because he was using a gimmick to create the illusion of being the most amazing guitar player ever, which he wasn't/isn't. No way to go but down and out!
