What Does Country Music Mean to You?!
Question: OK... So just wondering what it means to you other folks.... Does it sing out your love song ... your life story ... give you a new way to look at a situation?? or something else
It calms my nerves & gives me peace of mind..... I can turn up the volume in my car & go for a nice ride in my car or on a trail ride on my horse... Besides all of the above , I love it for what it is, LIFE .... makes me laugh & sometimes cry.... Always something I can relate to & love to hear

It means more then words can describe...I remember riding in the back seat of my parents car listening to the older country stars. when i listen to them today it brings back so many good memories. The music of the legends of country touch my soul, they had so much passion in their music. It told a story and meant something. Listening to songs like "who's gonna fill their shoes" by George Jones and "what if" by Dale Watson make me cry, because one day all of my heros are going to be gone. And all that's going to be left is the likes of Toby Keith & Kenny Chesney. And that makes me sad. Some people think I get a little too defensive when people say they don't like country(especially when they say they don't like classic country), but it bothers me so much, because music means so much more to me then i can explain. The legends of the past made country music and they are being forgotten and pushed aside to make room for the new "country" stars. And it ain't right. Country can make me happy when i'm sad, sadder when i feel like being sad, and rowdy when i feel like getting down. "you're the only one that you are screwin' when you put down what you don't understand"

Love, sex, heartbreak, homesickness, trains, beaches, cars, trucks, farming, past, hope, faith, family, divorce, re-birth, happiness, cowboys, etc...in short, life!
If you listen to country music long enough, eventually you'll hear your story.
I don't departmentalize. If I can relate to a song I like it. It could be Rock or Country. I can't understand the lyrics in Rap, so that's out. I also might like it for the beat. I love Lagrange by ZZ Top but can't relate to the whole brothel idea.
To be honest, I really dont listen to a lot of country music, but the little that I have listened to definitly has a message. It usually tends to carry a message about life, or tell a story. I think its about the same as the blues except the difference is the style in which the music plays. I like it. Of course it hits home for us all because as people, weve all gone through similar situations in our lives as the people that sing the songs. Good Stuff!!
