What is the first song you remember hearing as a child, discounting any nursery !
Question: Do you feel that your parents influenced your musical tastes today? I was exposed to jazz and blues at an early age, and I still listen to some of the same songs I heard as a child.

'Charlie Brown' by The Coasters - I still remember King Curtis' sax solo note for note. It was 1958 and I was four at the time. My parents listened to Mitch Miller, Perry Como and Doris Day on their weekly shows - that did not influence me at all. I was into rock-n-roll and was fortunate to grow up during the 'Golden Age' of rock-n-roll, with a new #1 song every week. Even before The Beatles came around in 1963 (in the US anyway), I was listening to the late 50s and early 60s AM radio hits - Buddy Holly, Dion and The Belmonts, The Everly Brothers, Del Shannon, Little Richard, Gene Vincent, The Ventures and so many more.
i was exposed to bob marley, and no they didnt influence me

First song that pops up is "Honkety Hank". But my parents sang traditional songs from the twenties and thirties. However, I drifted to folk and country in my own music. Go figure.
"Red Wing", my Dad used to play it for me on his fiddle.
