Well, I wouldn't say it's a "hardcore" solo!.!.!. the video is poor quality, but it looks like he's just running pentatonics at the 12th fret!. He's doing it fast, and doing it fluidly, but that's something that can be achieved with a fair amount of practice!.
Learn the E minor pentatonic scale at the 12th fret!.!.!. maybe even the E minor blues, as it's just one more note (5b)!. Run up and down it til you get it, then start running scale degree patterns!. What I mean by that is that if the notes of the E minor pentatonic are E G A B D, then we would say that E is 1, G is 2, etc!. Now practice playing patterns like 1 3 2 5 4 up the box - E A G D B E A G D B E !.!.!. etc!. Learn a few different patterns, mix them up, and you've got the basic ingredients of what he did in the solo!.
He might've thrown in a few grace or passing notes, but my ears aren't quite good enough to pick 'em out, so I would say that if you wanted to add in any other notes, as long as they're from one of the minor scales you should be okay!.
If you want a real "hardcore" solo, check out Jeff Loomis or Herman Li!. For that matter, Buckethead!. That guy is nuts!
Herman Li was amazing to see live!. I've never seen someone improvise their way through multiple two-hand tapped solos at high bpm, stay in key, not muff a single note, and keep a sh*t eating grin on his face the whole time!.!.!.
