people seem to think if you listen to Rock/Metal/Alternative your an 'Emo'!.!. (you cut yourself)
Yeh, i self-harm, but i have done for many years, and ive only Just started liking 'some' rock, as i also enjoy, rap/pop/indie etc!.!.!.!.

The people that answered are dumb so far, i don't believe in "emo" so i wouldn't know as far as self harm goes it has nothing to do with emo just thought i'd say that, and i hate people that judge and label!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you listen to rock or metal then you're only considered to be someone with good taste in music!.
And even if you listen to emo music, you don't necessarily have to be "emo"!.
And if the person really is "emo" then he wouldn't deny it!. "Emos" are actually proud to be who they are!.
Why would people want to judge others on their taste in music!?

i dont think life sucks!.emo is short for emotional and that is different from all the genres that is written!.emo isnt my type!.an emo song can be distinguished when it feels so gloomy and dark like "it ends tonight by all-american rejects!."

number 4 i love alterrock and im not deperessed or sad

if people didnt judge we just wouldnt get anywhere!. like id judge that a 3 year old kid wouldnt be safe driving my car!. judging helps us all!.

I did self harm but that has nothing to do with the music I like!. When you feel the urge to self harm which is a way of coping with intense feelings get some ice cubes and squeeze them in your hands!. Give it a try!. Good luckWww@Enter-QA@Com

Its like the press blaming my chemical romance for emo, i've listened to that kind of music for years and have never cut myself!. There is no one simple answer for self harm but it is not the fault of any music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Emos were created when a generation of teenagers were so used to getting everything handed to them on a platter realised that life doesn't work that way!. They become/became depressed and cut themselves for attention!. Yes, "emos" may beg to differ, saying that its because its the only thing that they can control, etc, but deep down it's a bid for attention!. The music industry saw these "emos" as a valuable market and now they are milking that market!. Many "emo" bands are relatively underground but they were probably created when "emos" who could play music also saw the market!.
I don't judge people for cutting themselves, I just see it as a waste of valuable life!. It achieves nothing, except an excuse to brag about the fact that you hurt yourself, like disrespecting life is something to be proud of!. In my opinion the act of cutting yourself is exactly the same as cutting your family and friends!. And I'm not judging anyone for doing it, I'm judging the act itself!.
