The violin... (should I take lessons)?!
Question: The violin!.!.!. (should I take lessons)!?
i have a new violin sitting in my room and i really want to play!. I have musical experience; I used to play the drums (for a year) , I play the piano (by ear, with 2 hands sometimes)!. But i always had a pull for violin, and i want to know if i should take it up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I started when I was eight and have never looked back (20+ years later)!. You will need to start reading the music, though, if you are going to progress at a good rate!. A private teacher would be a good idea to get you started, and then you can muddle through on your own once you get going!. If you want to get serious about it, you'll need a teacher again as you advance!. I would get a book (Essential Elements 2000 is a good one) and find a teacher who specializes in beginners!. Violin is a lot different than drums or the piano!. With both of those the notes are already presented for you!. The only thing that is remotely similar with the drums is the fact that they both use rhythm!. As for the piano, because you're learning by ear and not with lessons either it doesn't help that much!.
I strongly encourage you to take lessons!. I would be amazed if a person could pull off the violin without lessons!. Books and tools online are just not enough!.
Seeing how you do enjoy music, I would say go for it!. You already have half of it (the violin) now you just need a teacher!. It really is rewarding and people are pretty impressed!. Ask your music teacher at school or contact your local philharmonic to see if anyone is teaching!. If you have a university close by, there are probably some very willing college students who will be able to teach you at a really good price!.

I started playing the violin when I was ten and never stopped!. It is a difficult instrument to master but don't let that discourage you it is worthwhile!. After the violin everything else came surprisingly easy!. I have yet to find an instrument that is as expressive!. On the shallow side I have yet to see a person playing one that doesn't look totally hot!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Yes, definitely give it a try! I am a violinist and it has taken over my entire life because I love it so much! You could discover that it is your passion!. Just don't get frustrated!. In the beginning you WILL sound like crap! We all started out that way!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
