i love the blues and agree with most of these answers, but think this way for a second, while all these folks are great and you can almost always identify them after a few licks, sometimes you can be fooled by other guitarists who sound like them even if only for a second!. that being said, no one has ever even come close to the sound of a guitar that Albert Collins made!. The Master of the Telecaster!. once someone said it could only be described like an electric bumble bee!. just one lick and you know it's Albert!. no one else can say that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Best is subjective and unanswerable!. Does it mean technical ability!? I prefer heart and soul to how fast someone can move their fingers!.

Blind Willie Johnson -who am I to argue with both Clapton and Ry Cooder
Hubert Sumlin-the best guitar player from one of the best blues bands ever (Howlin' Wolf's)!. Hubert did (and does) cook!
Reverend Gary Davis-influenced (and taught) more acoustic players than any other five guitarists combined!. He developed the notion of playing piano rags on the guitar!.
T-Bone Walker-he wrote the dictionary of electric blues guitar language!. A huge influence to countless players, including!.!.!.!.!.!.
B!.B!. King-naysayers can talk about his inability to play chords (which he readily admits), his limited repertoire of licks, etc!., but every blues guitarist of the last fifty plus years has cited his influence!. If Mike Bloomfield calls you a main inspiration for becoming a guitar player, there's not much more to be said!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
