How do I really get myself out there?!

Question: How do I really get myself out there!?
http://answers!.yahoo!.com/question/;_ylc=!.!.!.
My name is Erica and I'm trying to pursue a career in country music!.
I am 14 and too young to sing at bars and clubs, but I don't want to limit myself to the Church choir (which is not an option, as my mother wouldn't approve, she's Jewish) and small town plays!. I live in Massachusetts if that means anything!. I can perform in front of an audience, I love the feeling and that's not something I'm nervous of doing, I just don't know how to get myself out there!. also, I don't play an instrument, I want guitar lessons, but I don't know how that's gonna go!.!.!.

What are other things I can play at!? There isn't alot that goes on in my town, North Andover!. Am I too young to even be playing at places!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, if you want to try teaching yourself to play guitar, check this site out: http://www!.jguitar!.com

I've been playing guitar for six or seven years now (I lost count somehow) and that site seems to be accurate!.

Now, to answer the big question, you could, like many have done, make a MySpace to showcase your talent!. And, also along those lines, is to create a YouTube account!. Many musicians now have YouTube accounts, including some big names like Brad Paisley and Martina McBride!.

Something every music act--no matter what genre they play in--needs is a demo!. To do that, you'd need a way to record songs that sound professionally recorded!. In this day and age, you can record pro-quality songs on almost any computer!. I, myself, would highly recommend a Mac to start (GarageBand is a great application that comes equipped on every Mac--perfect to create songs)!.

The best thing to do to actually get a big audience is to play local shows--there are usually places that aren't bars that will allow younger performers perform!.

Here are some sites you can make accounts on to showcase your musical talents:

http://www!.myspace!.com
http://www!.purevolume!.com
http://www!.garageband!.com

And, exclusively for country artists, there's this site:

http://www!.digitalrodeo!.com

To find out what GarageBand, which I mentioned, is, check out http://www!.apple!.com/ilife/garageband

also, there's a free audio editing software that is available called Audacity!. I hear it's fine and I've actually heard some songs created using it and they sound pretty close to professional--perfect for a demo!. To find Audacity, go to Google!.com and just type in, "audacity!." It should be the first link!.

By the way, there are many younger people who perform live and stuff!. Take Sarah Jarosz (search for her on YouTube or go to http://www!.myspace!.com/sarahjaroszmusic ), for instance!. She's a mandolin player from Texas who can also play clawhammer banjo and guitar!. She's not as young as you are, but I believe she's been playing for quite a few years!. Just be warned that she's not country--instead, she's more along the lines of bluegrass and she's 17-years-old now!. She has a record deal!. 17 is young to be getting a record deal!

To get a record deal at 14 is a bit less likely than to get one at 17, but it's still possible--just try your best!.

Hope this helped and good luck on your musical journey!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Erica,!.!. You are not to young to start in music!. I think you might like to Google a young country singer named Leann Rimes!.!.(sp!?) She and other singers like Tanya Tucker and LeeAnn Womack all had hit records in their early teens!.!. Many many young ladies have done the same!.!.!. It takes an amazing amount of talent to break through at a young age!. So much, that to be sincere, I would even have to say "gifted"!.!. Be honest with yourself above all!.!.!.!. You are correct to want to play an instrument!.!. as a mater of fact, unless you are gifted by God as was Lee Ann, with a nuclear blast for a voice,!.!.!. thats how you probably should start!. There are many many benefits that a parent will see in your desire to participate in church and school choirs!.!.!. and in playing an instrument!.!.!.!. There are millions of parents, as we speak that would give anything in the world to know there child was at church choir practice this evening for 3 hours!.!.!. Or at the music teachers studio practicing something worth while!. Just trust me on that one!.!.!. It ain't easy, and the number of folks that "make it" is infintesimally small in porportion to all of us that play and sing!.!.!. that's just the way it is!.!.!. But that doesen't mean it ain't attainable!.!. It's like the Lottery!.!.!. You can't win if you don't play!.!.!. And another thing!.!.!. Music, both Choir and Band!.!.!. have scholarship programs to college !.!.what single mom!.!. (what, any type, of parent) wouldn't see the Bennies in that!.!.!.!.!. And!.!.!. Yes you can play in honky tonks,!.!. with a letter from your parent!.!.!. I had to have one myself!.!.!.!. BUT!!! It has to be about the music not the ego trip or the booze!.!.!.keep it real!.!.!.!. And if you'd played in as many bars as I have you will soon find out there are a lot better venues!.!.!. They are a drag after a while!.!.!.!. but, the extra cash is nice, so we compromise!.!.!.!. I say!.!.!. set some clear goals,!.!.!. Talk realisticaly to your mom, And,!.!." practice practice practice" A quick perspective!.!.!.!.!.!.!. If two frogs are sitting on a log, and one decides to jump,!.!. How many frogs are left on the log!?!?!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. 2!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Deciding is not acting!.!.!.
