Question: Why is Jessica Simpson's song Come On Over being marketed as country!?
It couldn't be further from country if it tried!. It doesn't even sound like pop-country!. So why are the record companies and radio stations saying that it is when it clearly isn't, nor does it appeal to folks who do listen to country!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I know, it doesn't sound anywhere near the "new country" at all! My reasoning is that alot more people have discovered that country isn't so backwards after all and they are listening to it more and buying cd, just like in the Alan Jackson song "Gone Country!." The marketers see people who list their favorite singers and they try to put those genres together!. For example, if people started saying they like country artists then throw a few in that are not country, but could be close enough then they use them!. Like people asking if Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne sound alike then they'll make Avril country after she fades from pop!. Another thing they do is put a few that are obviously county with them to get people to the genre!. Like Miranda Lambert!. They put her with Taylor Swift and with Kelly Clarkson so that you will see her cds in both sections when you go to buy them!. Then they can sell all three albums!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
She is NOT a country artist and she doesn't sound country at all!.!.I am sure it is a marketing scheme to get her "fans" from the world of pop music to cross over and begin listening to country!.Alot of pop singers have been crossing over and becoming country and alot of new country singers have been doing songs that sound more pop than country!.It's all marketing business,and about making more money!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Isn't that from the Jessica Simpson CD that is being produced by John Rich (of Big & Rich)!? That would be why - the producer is a country singer, and he is trying to do a country makeover on her!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
