scratch the rosin cake so it reveals the bottom part dun scratch too much though!.!.!.then when u can see the colour rub it on ur violin bow!.!.!.too much is bad and too little is bad so i would recommend 10 strokes up and down the bow!.!.!.u should be able to play now as it will catch the strings better!.!.!.i mean no friction how are u gonna play!?And also remember to clean the violin!.!.!.clean the strings the area around the strings and the fingerboard as rosin would stick onto the string and spoil it!.!.!.use a cloth to do that ok!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

You have two options for this problem, and neither should include Yahoo! answers!. You can either ask the person or store from whom you purchased your violin, or your violin teacher!. What's that!? Don't have a teacher!? Find one!. That should be your priority!. You will not learn the violin without lessons!. Sorry, but it's the truth!. It can happen, but it's unlikely and very slow and painful!. Find a teacher and have a few lessons!. Your new instructor can show you how to produce a tone on your violin!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Most new violin outfits are provided with a cake of rosin!. Take this out of the case and scratch the top of the cake of rosin lightly (first time only) with a pin, to get it started!. Rosin the bow hair liberally, from tip to frog, and dust off the excess!. Rosin is needed to "catch" the strings; a new violin will not play without rosin on the bow!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Rosin is something that you rub on your bow hairs to make it 'sticky'!. If your bow is new you're going to need quite a bit of rosin, so it will 'grab' the strings, making sound!. You put rosin on your bow by rubbing the rosin up and down the bow with long strokes!. Try stroking the bow at least 10-15 times, if it still sounds quiet or won't make noise, rub a little more rosin on it!.

Good Luck with the Violin!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am aghast that you buy a violin and then don't have the sense to get yourself a teacher to show you how to play the thing!. You will never achieve anything worthwhile on the violin without a teacher!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Rosin is meant to add "grab" so to speak, to your bow!. Take the rosin and rub it up and down the bow (the part that you use on your strings)!

Rosin is used to make the bow stick to the strings and make bowing easier!. For violin, 10 strokes of rosin on the bow should be enough!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Take a key and scratch your rosin, use the dust from the rosin for your bow!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

rub the rosin into your bow string!. that should help!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
