Question: Good Morning RHH!. Is it another beautiful day in Zamunda!.!.!?
Old School Hip Hop question:
Do you think that we overrate MC Lyte, and Underrate good female emcees like Queen Latifah and Monie Love!?
We always mention Lyte as a GOAT Female emcee, but then jump to Jean Grae or Bahamadia, when we forget about the women that came before them and spit rhyme after rhyme!.

To a certain extent!. I think that MC Lyte was better than both Queen Latifah and Monie Love but they do somewhat get overlooked!.
But I think that's also partially due to their respective legacies!. MC Lyte is remembered as the first female emcee to get notice because of her mic skills and not because she was a gimmick!. The most notable legacy of Queen Latifah, especially, is that she was the first female rapper to get noticed *as* a female; not a tomboy like Lyte or sex symbols like Salt n Pepa!. Which of those legacies is more "important" is up to the discretion of individual hip hop fans, I guess!. Monie Love was pretty much Queen Latifah's sidekick so that's pretty much why she gets glossed over!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

IMO Rah Digga is the best female emcee, but that is my opinion!. As far as Lyte goes, she paved the way and proved she can hold her own in a male dominated field!. As far as overrated goes, no she gets her due!. I think we associate the term overrated with repeatedly!. We repeatedly hear about her, but we can not take away what she has done!. And as far as Latifah and Monie, IMO they were not that good!. Latifah has branched off and opened up many doors in entertainment, but as far as lyrics go, she's alright!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I guess Lyte is the best of her time, but she's not what I would consider to be amazing!. I think she and Latifah were what and what, but Lyte was a little more hardcore!. I actually think Yo-Yo would come before Monie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Yes, I do, Prince Akeem!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
