ok, im trying to figure out which one i want to learn to play!. so i need these questions answered:
what is a guitar mainly used for and what is a bass mainly used for!? what kind of music do you associate the two with!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Well that's a complex question!.
Firstly there are different types of guitar!. Let me go through them

classical guitar: for older music, e!.g!. 1800 era!. Has nylon stings and plays with fingers (not guitar pick)!. Mostly used for spanish and flamenco music!.Comples finger picking patterns and very fast!. Offers the most variety in style of playing but you won't be able to play any modern songs with it, or in a band (an instrument often played on its own), p!.s!. I play it and it's great but if you want to play stuff you hear on the radio to impress others, you may find it boring!.

acoustic guitar: Technically a classical guitar is also an acoustic guitar as wel but the more common guitar is the acoustic guitar with steel string!. This means mostly using a guitar pick and a pick of modern and old songs!. Sometimes used in bands, often singers use them while playing this guitar!. You can play quite a lot!. Bands for example that rely heavily on this guitar, e!.g!. radiohead!.

electric guitar: Used all the time in pop, rock ,punk etc!. Can use to play pretty much any modern music (not old)!. Heavy rock/ metal bands will use this guitar so if you want to play this genre, it's probably a must to use this!. Comes with an amp though, and may drive others crazy, lol!. Probably best to play in a band!.

Bass guitar: Bass guitar will be used in pretty much any modern music!. Smoke on the water is the example of a common baseline!. Creates the "beat" of a song involving usually an electric guitar!. Probably the simplest out of all of them but is not much fun to play on your own!.

If i had to recommend, i'd choose acoustic or electric as most people will prefer these two!. You will be able to play most modern music!. They are also relatively easy to pick up!.
I'd love you to choose classical guitar but unless your really interested in the music, there's really not much point!. also it's probably the hardest to learn/ play taking lots of practice!. Even now, i've been playing classical guitar for ages and now want to try acoustic guitar as i want to try something new!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

A bass is mainly used for the rhythm of the song,
guitar is usually the main part of the song!.
Guitar is pretty much used in every type of genre, except its used less frequently in rap!. Bass is usually in all genres too!.
I would go with the guitar though, its a lot funner to play, and provides a bit more of a challange!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

guitar is higher register rythem or lead and bass is rythm!. if you learn to play guitar or bass you can play the parts written for either instrument for any type of music!. Bass is easier to learn, but there are more techniques to give a unique sound!. guitar is slightly more complicated, but it's a lot of fun!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Guitar can be used in almost any type of music depending what effect you have on it!. Same thing with bass as well!. Bass, to me atleast, is less noticeable in songs!.

Bass is usually stereotyped for sounding "funkier" if you know what I mean!. But it can be played in almost all settings!. I play both and bass is just easier in general!. I guess it's whether or not you want a challenge and a higher pitch sound!.!. then go with the guitar!. If you want a deep funky sound go with the bass!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

you should start with classical or acoustic and once you've mastered that u can go on to electric, bass, and all those other ones!. i suggest starting with the easy one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Here are basic descriptions of each, some differences, some similarities, and a bit about what you can play on them: There are many varieties of guitar, the two major categories being accoustic and electric!. Most accoustic guitars are then either "Classical" (nylon-stringed) or "Steel-Stringed"!. The classical guitar, as the name implies, may be used to play classical music (usually solo or with a small ensemble), but may also be used to play flamenco and other latin styles, traditional folk blues, bluegrass, or any other style of music where a mellow fingerpicking sound is desired!. Steel-stringed accoustic guitars are well suited to folk, rock, blues, country, pop, and a variety of other styles, and are generally what you see when a rock or pop artist plays "unplugged"!. An electric guitar, but also an amplifier and an array of effects pedals or other equipment, is needed to recreate the rock-based sound of most modern popular music!. What (most) guitars have in common are six strings, (most often) tuned to the notes E-A-D-G-B-E!. Therefore, songs learned on one type of guitar can usually be played on another type of guitar, for a different musical "feel"!. The "bass" generally refers to the electric bass guitar!. Technically, it is also a type of guitar, and from the cheap seats at a concert, it may look almost identical to an electric guitar!. However, it is the descendant of the double bass viol (stand-up bass)!. It has a slightly thicker, longer neck than an electric guitar, and has only four, very thick, heavy, metal strings!. The tuning matches the first four strings of the guitar (E-A-D-G) but is an octive lower!. The bass is usually played one note at a time!. This can often match the root note of the chord being played on guitar, lending the progression a deeper, fuller sound!. In some styles of music, the bass line can take a more up-front, spotlight position (eg!.: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Parliament Funkadelic, Blind Boys of Alabama)!. I'm a guitarist, so I'd choose guitar!. However, some people are just born to rock the bass!. Maybe there's a bassist out there who'd like to elaborate!? Www@Enter-QA@Com
