Most teenagers and preteens do not understand why what they are listening to is wrong!. For example I hear the “N” word (racial slur against Blacks) today is used by many of the younger black generation !. I do not think they understand exactly what their past generations have had to go through with the use of that word!. Even when the “N” word was used as “N”gro it was use in a demeaning way!.
My advice when dealing with youth today is to educate them as to why this word is so bad and why it’s not appropriate to call their friends by this word!.
The same approach should be used when dealing with lyrics which disrespect women!. The problem we have today is today’s generation have not had to deal with the hardships which our grandparents had to endure!.

as for violence, not ALL black people listen to rap, and not all black people are violent!.!.

Adults need to be better role models!. Parents specifically, but teachers, city leaders, church leaders, etc!.!.!. Music doesn't make kids have sex at 14 or shoot up their school!. Not having adults who set a good example does!.
I'm assuming this is for some class assignment but people need to stop blaming music, movies, video games, entertainment for their kid's bad behavior!.
Leave it to bad parents to find a scape goat as to why their kid is f-cked up!.

It will only have control over you if you allow it and it will only continue to be a slur if we, as a society, allow it to!. Words are ours to form and make mean whatever we want!.
