I came up hard, but being broke is no excuse for being dishonorable. Attitude has it's place, but like any other kind of power it is easy to abuse. I tend to treat people the way they treat me, and truth be told I have no respect at all for the thug mentality. I take each person for what they present themselves as until they behave in a manner than makes me change the way I treat them. I give everyone a fair shake, and if I have the power or ability, I hold them responsible for what they do.
What you call a thug mentality, I call insecurity, but I never underestimate the danger in a scared person, especially if they have a weapon or a firearm in their possession. Most of the time if you have half a brain, you can avoid most confrontations, rarely do you ever have to worry about altering another person's behavior, usually the manner in which you handle yourself makes such confrontation's unnecessary.
In those few situations that a confrontation is unavoidable, my behavior is equal to the circumstances, I try not to over react.
