Do you actually go into a shop .....?

I refuse to; I'm English, I'll never be European. Nice place to visit .... don't want to be one.

bullsbusbutt - No, I'm as English as they come. Elflaeda is standing on the bridge of the SSS (Solar StarShip) Vampira - A globally financed but BRITISH built vessel - Scottish actually, it was built in the Clyde Orbital Platforms, named after the Clyde shipyards and was built by Ferguson Shipbuilders who branched out into space vehicles as the technology advanced.

Answers:

You'll get used to it. Ireland is now fully metric and it went well.

I can only think in metric. I understand some imperial measurements like miles and stones but pounds i never understood and the pint measurement for me only relates to a pint of beer.

Anyways its up to individual countries to convert to metric and to abide by EU rulings. I think the UK was the only place that would fine a person for not using metric, others just did an education campaign on the benefits and introduced it gradually.

As for that banana thing people from the UK harp on about, the directive in question was a classification system whereby among other things how curved the banana and the quality of the banana would be given a grade like eggs. This is so that for example a chef didnt have to go down to the market and physically pick out the bananas he required, instead he could just order them saying 15 grade a and 12 grade b.
