I'm going out in a min and no one will help my lil sis to do her homework so please help her owt!....

i am having the same debate with my 3 children just now, 2 are happy to carry on as they are-i give them money as and when theey need it, my little boy whos 12 wanted to know why he didnt get an allowance, so i told him he could, i knew for a fact i gave him far more a month than he would expect in a lump sum allowance, so i asked him how much he thought was a fair amount for a 12 year old and he said £15 per week,($30) we agreed what he had to buy from that, sweets mags etc and left it at that, 1st month he bought a game for his pc, allowance almost gone in 1 day! both my girls are great with money he however i knew would do this, an allowance is better as it teaches children to budget and also that if they do not have money, well, they cannot buy buy anything, it also helps parents as they know exactly how much money they have too, my little boy doesnt ask why he doesnt get an allowance anymore, he now knows where hes better off, sadly so too does my pocket LOL
