When They Show Fat People on The News...?!

Question:

When They Show Fat People on The News...?

Y'know when they do segments on the news about over weight Americans, they ALWAYS show shots of them from the waist down or the back so as to protect thier identities?

Don't you wonder if they ever SEE themselves on tv later on & wanna just crawl under a rock?!

I mean, I don't think the tv station needs to get permission to use shots of their butts b/c their faces aren't shown. But it still must be So embarrassing. I mean, really. When you see yourself, you WILL recognize your own clothing etc...

Answers:

We must be two of the meanest people around because I swear I was having this same thought while watching ABC News. It makes me snicker yet feel guilty at the same time. I believe the news would have to get that person's permission to have themselves appear on the news. So, imagine the task at hand. You have to approach this person and go "excuse me, but as an overweight American (putting it VERY polite), may we use your image for a story?" There is no p.c. way to do this. Unless of course the obese are bending over backwards to volunteer for the job. And then if they don't require permission, it's like you said, "OMG, that's my fat*** on the segment!" I shouldn't be laughing at this.
