How is this fair?

I answered a question in the pregnancy forum about which birth control method was the best. I included info and statistics and even a link to the planned parenthood website. The girl wanted an answer because she was going to have sex. There was another response that was one word... "abstain" that got chosen as best answer. I tried to be informative and not judgmental and put alot of thought into my answer. Whats the point of trying to be helpful if people are going to vote for the one answer that could potentially make matters worse? if she doesn't have any good info she could screw up and get pregnant. Whats the point?

Sucks, eh? I hate it when I've put a ton of work into an answer, I KNOW I'm right, and then someone else with two sentences gets chosen.

Or when BA is chosen because it agrees with what the asker wanted to hear.

Or like the first scenario, and you do get BA, but all you get for a comment is "thanks" No punctuation, no capitalizing the T, etc.

I know just how you feel! Try not to let it bother you though. Just know that you've done good work.

And as a bonus, remember that people do review resolved questions. Most of us know that BA isn't a scientific thing, and I for one review all answers if I'm researching something. So your hard work may still help someone!

FOR EXAMPLE, take a look at this one. I got BA, but with all the research I did all I got was "thanks" lol - really, this doesn't keep me up at night or anything!
