Question:

For Texans: How do you feel about the minimum wage increase?

This Tuesday it increased by 70 cents ($5.85)
For the next two years it will also be increasing 70 cents. Is this good or do you wish it would have been 71 cents or more?

Well life is more expensive in New York than in Texas.

Answers:

I oppose any minimum wage laws. All they do is promote unemployment of LEGAL workers.

Basic economics:

Minimum wage goes up (artificial increase in costs of production) => Employer has to charge more for their products.

As price of a product goes up, fewer of the products will be sold.

Because fewer products are being sold, the factory needs to produce less.

Because the factory is producing less... they need fewer employees.

Guess which employee gets fired first.... The "minimum wage" worker.

**************

We already have a problem with illegal immigration and ILLEGAL workers in the US who don't have to be paid minimum wage... (and don't obey a lot of other laws because they are by definition CRIMINALS.)

Minimum wage increase will just make that problem worse... amplifying the unemployment of legal workers... by replacing them with illegal workers who don't get the pay raise.
