Why is it that when I ask someone about their IQ, it's never lower than 120?!

Question:

Why is it that when I ask someone about their IQ, it's never lower than 120?

Statistically, only 10% of people have an IQ greater than 120, so either I'm extremely lucky meeting smart people, or they're lying to me. Which one is more likely?

Answers:

People tend to filter information in a way that makes them feel the best. Since results from different IQ tests can vary widely, someone who has tested at 103, 111, and 122 will always tell you their IQ is 122, ignoring the other results.

Try this experiment - Get a group of people in a room. Ask them to write down on a piece of paper, whether compared to the other people in the room, is their intelligence above average, average, or below average. Most people will probably say above average.
