i know that 15 years and maybe only a few with my wife its not just HM forces but all the emergency services dont get enough respect in this country, its all wrong Source(s):
ex Royal Air Force
ex fire service no not at all
especially the single squaddies, they get treated like **** by some civies!!! especially young lads out out at night
I lived on camp for 17 years and saw some horrendous fights betweens groups of lads all because one group were squaddies
its pathetic Are you a part of HM Forces? Oh Nottingham is full of fun, Nottingham is full of fun, its full of t*ts, fanny and Forest, Oh Nottingham is full of fun.

And no they dont no! they should get it though.i think people are disillusioned with government policies and that makes them blame the forces themselves, which is wrong. (in my opinion) No they Don't ............... NO NO NO!! our boys our out there and most of them are just that BOYS shame on our government No I do not think that they do. Its all wrong they put their lives at risk every day and get very little thanks for it. No....although alot of the kids that are out there fighting these so called wars are exactly that "kids" and just cannon fodder....it's appalling! both my sons are in the forces and they do get respect, but only from the people who know them....i think the lads and girls who are serving in Iraq don't because they have to go out and fight a war for someone else while they sit on their @rses and watch innocent men die....PLUS i don't know if you know this BUT, did you know that these lads and girls who serve our country have to pay tax...can you believe that....they pay tax to fight someone else battles....sad isn't it?....that's what you call disrespect on the politicians behalf.... They should.
"If you can't stand behind our troops, then please stand in front of them" Anon I think they do.It's the idiotic government who we dont respect for ordering them off to some fleapit in the middle east without giving them up to standard equipment I certainly don't think so but it sickens me ..... guys in the forces will put their lives on the line for us and get no respect wtf is up with that, they get the blame for all this political bullsh*t like they have a choice where they end up......... its all b*llocks ....

I've brought my kids up to respect anyone in uniform its a hell of a job you guys do ............

*respect honey* no no they don't !!!! that is so weird i met a young lad today , he was buying a playstation 3 , i said to him wow you going to have fun , and he turned around and said " i might as well i'm going to iraq on friday for six months " i totally didn't expect that answer at all ., i asked him how old he was , he said he was twenty , i thought brave guy , but i also thought how sad , because they are not appreciated and deserve more respect ,, i wished him good luck and for a safe return home , i hope he does make it xx They should do!! we(Those who do) in the UK join the armed forces and rightly do as they are the best in the world. They train not for a job of war but to be the best they can(and that is The best).

They don't join to shoot or Kill people but the oposite, by being the best they are saying "Don't try it"

But IF it happens I'm sure that us Brits will give our all and do the job! I don't think they have for years. I was never in the armed forces but my Grandfather and Father were and I grew up with knowledge of both World Wars and a certain amount of incredulity over how easily the sacrifices they and their comrades made were forgotten - for instance, I knew a bloke who thought the Battle of Britain took place in 1066.

That the modern military is viewed with general apathy by many comes as no surprise. There is an element of distrust in the political motives behind some of the more recent conflicts and perhaps the public perception of war has changed, but without a military the UK would have been subjugated long ago and it is the front line soldier - in whatever theatre of war - who has prevented this.

I know that you may be referring to the apparent general feeling towards those that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan but consider how many people will actually be silent for one minute at eleven o'clock in the morning on the 11th of November this year. Not very many is my guess. No they do not, I was a appalled to watch a programme on TV recently about ex squaddies who were living on the street, they served our country and that was how they ended up, totally disgusting. They definately do not. Their families tend to get a tough time too.
