Question:

I can't stand rap. So why is that when I listen to Will Smith rapping the theme to Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I can tolerate it? I don't feel the need to change the channel or rip my hair out.

Answers: Because when he raps he uses a familiar popping rhythm that keeps you hypnotized, like a car commercial. It's a trick. Don't buy into it. :-) Maybe because the rap isn't degrading to women and full of cursing? because his rapping sucks

and that its not degrading to women LOL... because its a part of your childhood! ahhhh West Philadelphia, Born and raised.....

the Fresh Prince is the greatest rapper of all time. Blunt Force Trauma to the head, hopefully someone finds you soon and takes you to a hospital, not minding rap is the first sign that your close to death. it's like a jingle, a slogan. Like the catchy commercials that you just can't get out of your head. If you really like that show, just turn a away for a minute, or even better yet press mute. I hate the theme song to Big Love and that's what i do. It might be because you don't hate rap. You just don't like current rap. Rap used to be something we would say to get the ladies to like us. This has obviously changed over the years. I myself have listened to some rap songs and don't care much for what I've heard lately. Most of what I like is nearly 20 years old. I do not listen to rap songs that glorify violence and degrade women. You might try listening to the artist known as "Common". I am told he is inspirational. My own favorite is "I Need Love" by LL Cool J, back from 1987. As for Will Smith, most of his songs sound the same to me, so I don't pay him much attention. If you find any rap worth listening to, be sure to let me know.
