Do you try toi be as energy efficient as possible?!

Question:

Do you try toi be as energy efficient as possible?

if not for the environment then for your pocket!
heres some tips for use at home!:

1. Unplug your phone charger - equipment on stand-by uses up to 20% of the energy it would use when fully on.
2. Walk or cycle instead of driving for short journeys - it costs nothing and is good for you.
3. Turn your heating down to a comfortable 20oC - lowering your thermostat by 1oC will knock 10% off your heating bill.
4. Buy 'A' rated kitchen appliances - they cost less to run and over time will give you considerable savings on your electricity bill.
5. Use compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) instead of traditional bulbs - they use 20% of the energy and last up to 15 times as long.
6. Wait for the dishwasher to be full before you switch it on - a half full one uses the same energy as a full one.
7. Switch off lights when you leave a room - energy is wasted lighting unoccupied rooms.
8. Don't overfill your kettle - only boil as much water as you need.
9. Check your tyre pressure - a car with correctly

inflated tyres is more fuel efficient. Avoid unnecessary electricity use between 5pm and 7pm - help reduce national CO2 emissions.

And you should check the website of your electricity supplier for tarrifs that work better for you!

Do you do any/all of these things?
Do you have any other tips?

but not sure on no.7......I thought it was best to leave a light on rather than keep turning it on and off especially with the new bulbs.
perhaps you can check that one out i save a lot of energy i sit when i can Thanks for the advice but do you realise just how much electricity your computer consumed while you composed this question? Recycle everything. You are 3 years late but thanks all the same. I am very conscious that we all need to conserve energy for our environment as well as our own pocket! I do not check the tyre pressures and cannot afford to ditch my electric appliances for more efficient ones until I need to replace them. Other than that I do everything else!!!! I still boil the kettle to make tea only to let it cool down enough so that I can drink it. never really spent time thinking about and didnt know where to start so thanks I do try to live green. I do most of these except 4 (because my house is a rental). I also hang my clothes to dry outside whenever it is sunny enough, or inside when I have the radiators on. Also, I recycle everything possible, and have a compost pile.

Thanks for asking. yeah i do most of them...i save energy by making my husband load the dishwasher..... How much Elect have you wasted typing your question and me wasting.......... we have...
energy efficient light bulbs,
i dont use a dish washer,
we don't have a car but use public transport,
we have the heating off compleatly in summer and
have it quite low in winter.
if it's summer, and during the day we have the sun light instead of bulbs,
in winter we keep the curtain shut.
i allways charge my phone for 1 hour then unplug it.
and tucking your curtains behind the radiators meens you heat the room and not the window

and we have a grant to get roof lagging. Yes,I follow all these steps.I also have a solar water heater. It saves A LOT of power. 6,7, and 1 I was raised to be energy conservative.
I don't do No. 5 or No. 8........just haven't switched the light bulbs back home, and I never am sure how much hot water I will want for tea....sometimes I get several cups.
All in all though yes, I'd say I'm energy efficient.
