Why do blue collar workers not appreciate white collar workers?!

Question:

Why do blue collar workers not appreciate white collar workers?

It seems like people whose job produces sweat and tired muscles do not approve of anyone who sits behind a desk or uses their mind all day.

Is it unfair criticism or just jealousy?

Answers: I believe it to be a little bit of both. The majority of blue collar workers screwed up in life and that's why they are where they are. Now they are mad at those people that didn't screw up and think the only way to make themselves feel better is to rip on the people that are doing better than them that they made fun of in school. I am a white collar worker but I have a Blue shirt on does this make me a double agent? they feel they were handed it. blue collar is more hands on and actual "work" compared to office jobs in air conditioned cubicles. it works the other way around,...

when you sit your butt on the sofa..do you always appreciate the blue collars that BUILT your house? or clean your septic tank?

yeah probably not...you just hope everything works as it ought to.. we do most of the work and they make all the money for our work and don't appreciate us for it. I think everyone chooses where they go in life and if it wasn't for those of us who sit at a desk whether it be for administrative purposes or IT. Those blue collar people wouldn't have jobs.....
My dad was a brick mason... So I grew up with blue collar peeps.... We all work our butts off... just in different ways... jealosy? I don't think so, I'd like to see a pencil pushers behind the desk to do a working mans job I honestly believe its the other way around. Ive seen alot of white collar workers who look down on the blue collar workers with distate. My mother was a school teacher and my father an attorney and they were appalled that I married a welder! Why marry for money and be unhappy???? I think its just certain people from both groups that do this- not all from either group BUT it takes both to work together to make this country the great one that it is Many of them assume that not only do they work harder than white collars, but that the white collar think that they are better. The fact of the matter is, is that some of them do act this way and it gives the others a bad name. Can't we all just get along. Its more along the lines of im out here busting my A** for minimum wage and white collar workers are siting in air conditioned rooms making top dollar. It seems like the harder you have to work the less you get paid. The government really needs to look at wages better. Yes im thankful that the wages went up a little but that still dosent help those people that are making minimum wages. you look like a women in your picture, but yea man i know what you mean its like 2 different races almost i am white collar and I think it is not unfair criticism. I think the office environment give you much opportunity to slack off. When you have physical demand on the job and must produce tangible/visible results there is less opportunity for slacking off. But those who are blue collar may wish they had made a better effort in school. I never meet a lot of blue collar people who have some sort of resentment towards white collared. A lot of people around here (NYC) just do the best they can and try to do it in a field they are best at and don't hate the most.

I'm sure if there is some sort of nonappreciation, it is due to the fact that blue collar believes that white collar doesn't work hard. Although this is not true, it's two different forms of work. Maybe blue collar doesn't feel they didn't have the chance of getting a white collared job because they didn't have enough money (or smarts) for an education to land them their dream job.

Times of changed... there are a lot of blue collared production white collared children, there are some white collared that have children who rather work with their hands.
Believe it or not, there are still some blue collared people that make more than white. Merely because the ones I work with only have white collar jobs because they are brown-nosing sycophants.

I have no respect for people that kiss *** for a living. I believe that it's a mutual disrespect. The people who "use their minds" all day, as you put it, usually have no idea of what actually happens...but this does not deter them from offering an opinion, or demanding that their "ideas" be implemented, no matter what the cost, or obstacle (gravity seems to be a big obstacle to a lot of "engineers").

I have been on both sides, and I crossed back to the blue collar side when I discovered that the respect of the workers meant more to me than the temporary lip service of the back-stabbing office weasels.

By the way...white collar types seem to have a lot of trouble with pronoun usage. They keep saying "I" and "We" when what they should be saying is "They".

If you are a white collar type, keep this in mind, it could save you from having an "Industrial Accident" some day. A little of both prolly, maybe the blue collar people are allergic?!?
