What keeps you acting as a moral person?!

Question:

What keeps you acting as a moral person?

Your belief in a higher power?
Social pressure?
Fear of reprocussions?

Answers: My belief in God who gives me a conscience. Also my self-respect. What makes you think I act moral? lol fear of jail i don't " act " I can't answer. I'm not sure myself. it's the 50/50 with the 'man' upstairs i agreed to..... My conscience, and the fact that I like to sleep well at night. I stay moral because everyone else usually acts pretty mean to others. I do it to show that there are still some "odd" people around. I think motive is a part of being moral. You are correct in using the word "acting as" in the sense of pretending.

Most people have been trained by social pressure since they were small children to behave. As adults, this training comes through as feelings. They feel bad when they are dishonest, for example. But feelings make a poor foundation for morality. We have no moral obligation to obey a feeling.
