Answers: Why do you answer questions? Is it for the points? Or is it out of a genuine desire to offer your opinion/advice?

I used to do it for the points many accounts ago. Now I just do it to pass time at work.

Not for the points - it's not like I can actually DO anything with them. I like the idea of helping people, but I think I also just like being right. I was one of those kids who always assumed my opinion was relevant, and it's nice to go somewhere where people actually want you to keep telling them random things. Also, I may be hooked on getting best answers: it's validation from strangers. Sad but true, like a more complex version of the girls who post 'am i ugly' questions so that strangers tell them they're pretty.
