Question: I live in an Amish area and they do have community phone booths scattered thru out the countryside,..old fashioned phone booths but they work fine for them...otherwise they ride to a Neighbors (english)house to ask them to call for them...>=)

They usually have one phone that the community uses for emergencies. However, my sister lives in Amish country and manages a Radio Shack. She sells quite a few cell phones to the Amish.
The kids partaking in Rumspringa bust out the cell phones.

They don't call the cops, they use their own system. The authorities in the villages are called Elders and there is a panel of them to hand down a law or enforce the rules. The cops leave them alone because they have isolated themselves from the outside world.
They ride their horse 10 miles to the nearest non-Amish person's house and ask them to call the police for them and by the time they get there everyone has bled to death.
THEY HAVE COMMUNITY PHONES SET UP, AND MOST JUST GRAB THE SHOT GUN!!!!
